Katie Britt of Alabama delivered the rebuttal from her kitchen, seeming more like a parent frightening children with ghost stories at a slumber party than a politician trying to reach serious adults. Some critics called it a surreal "fever dream" or thought they were watching QVC. At any rate, the strange speech missed its mark.
