"WATCHING THE CLOCK"

 4/1/20

Everyday life has been largely disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the nation and the world, with much of the country shutting down. I understand the concern of not spreading the virus, but so long as the government insists on businesses being closed with major restrictions it needs to financially ensure those businesses will be able to resume operations and worker's wages are covered. That will require additional bailouts. Most people these days are unsettled to say the very least and wondering if they will continue to be employed on account of the coronavirus. Currently 1/4 of the workforce has experienced layoffs or furloughs, and many companies are cutting hours. The economic impact of too long of a shutdown should be taken very seriously by public officials, as it could lead to widespread homelessness, starvation, suicide, etc.
