Fearing their constituents and Trump himself, the Senate GOP has blocked witness testimony and signaled acquittal in the impeachment trial. I predicted the Senate would automatically acquit Trump months ago, and now I am predicting that because Trump has stated that he believes he is above the law, he will end up with the historical distinction of being impeached by the House twice for some other misadventure. The whole affair is a sorry statement on the state of politics and the absolute dishonesty of towing the party line.
