"A SUPER-MINORITY"

11/19/14 The News-Dispatch & 11/20/14 The Herald-Argus

The Democrats have become an even greater "Super-Minority" to the Republican "Super-Majority" in the Indiana House & Senate this election year. A wave of anti-Obama sentiment caused many Hoosiers to take it out on the Democrats who were running this time around. There are now no Democratic congressmen south of Indianapolis, which has some political pundits questioning the future of the party in the state, and members of the party looking for a path forward.
My opinion is that straight party-line voting is lazy voting, and that it benefits democracy to split your ticket to vote on individual politicians rather than whether they are red or blue.  It's OK to lean towards one party or another, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't run when they break out the Kool-Aid.
