With unprecedented crises abroad and troubles at
home, President Obama has almost made it a point
that he is quite focused on...golfing. Perhaps
it's to persuade I.S.I.L. that he is unfazed by
beheadings of American journalists and their
threats to western nations, or maybe it's to
demonstrate to Russia that he won't let
their sabre-rattling and incursions into Ukraine
keep him off the fairway. At any rate, it's a
little disconcerting.
Elsewhere, across the Atlantic, Scotland is
voting whether to stay with the United Kingdom
or to declare its independence from the British
crown. In recent days, the number of
pro-independent Scots has surpassed the number
of Unionists loyal to England. It makes me
wonder what Vladimir Putin would do were he King
of England? I think we know...
