"DRY COUNTY"

7/16/14 The News-Dispatch The Herald-Argus

The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission declined permission for alcohol to be served at the La Porte County Fair this year, citing a little-known law claiming it is illegal to host 4-H exhibits AND serve beer. What makes their denial of the Fair Board's application to serve alcohol dubious is that the Indiana State Fair is apparently breaking this law, serving spirits alongside 4-H exhibits. The pass given to the State Fair is a double-standard.

My feelings on alcohol is that alcohol needs to be kept away from the alcoholics, and not the rest of us who are casual drinkers and know when to say when. Don't "punish the rest of the class" who can drink responsibly. It's a bit like banning cars because some people are awful drivers...focus instead on addressing alcohol abuse.
