Many La Porte County residents are finding they owe reconciled property tax bills as a result of a reassessment battle dating back to 2007. To add insult to injury, the payments, some in the thousands of dollars, are due in a short period of time. The way I see it, those homeowners should be allowed four years to pay it, since that was the amount of time it took them to be billed.
