"THAT SHIP HAS SAILED"

10/8/08 The News-Dispatch

At the time I drew this one, I felt strongly that Senator John McCain erred in choosing Republican candidate Sarah Palin for what appeared to be purely political reasons, when there were plenty of more qualified and intelligent VP candidates out there. In time, it was revealed McCain's camp just hadn't vetted her well enough. In the years since the '08 election, McCain actually proved himself to have a great deal of political integrity and even defied his own party in the face of Russian efforts to infiltrate it. This is one cartoon where I had gotten ahead of myself in saying that his integrity had "sailed"...it hadn't.
