One of the most flagrant indicators of blind partisanship in Washington is reaction to a Supreme Court nomination. Immediately the nominee is opposed by the other party and vigorously defended by the president's party. Politicians' reactions are painfully predictable, making it clear the process is ALL about wanting the nominee to legislate the politicians' opinions from the bench, and really nothing else.
