"THE FAKE NEWS AWARD GOES TO..."

1/24/18 The News-Dispatch & 1/25/18 The Herald-Argus

Once in a while, I will visit Fox News out of morbid curiosity to see what their top stories are on days when Donald Trump does something controversial, to see if they actually report on it. Most days, they do not. Instead, they focus on pillorying Democratic politicians, even those who are no longer relevant or in power like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. When it comes to reporting crime, they tend to highlight crimes committed by illegal immigrants and omit white supremacist connections to crimes by white people. Insiders have admitted the obvious: that they are given daily conservative talking points and a script to generate phony outrage instead of reporting facts impartially. Is that not fake news? If we as Americans can't agree on what objective facts are, what can we agree on? I long for the days when TV journalists were impartial, objective, and without a political agenda - or at least tried to be.
